Stretch Your Dollar: Retailers Offer Big Bargains

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Retailers are hoping that they'll ring up big sales on the day after Thanksgiving. If you're willing to brave the crowds to "stretch your dollar" you could save quite a bit on Black Friday.

Shoppers will be rushing to the appliance section at Sears.

"A set of high-efficiency pair of washer and dryer for $599.99." said a Sears employee.

The same washer-dryer combo usually sells for $1,300.

If you're looking for a navigation device, you'll be able to get one for under $100 at Staples, Target and Best Buy.

Tameka Estes will be out shopping for toys with her cousin.

"She maps out the stores, like which ones open at what time, which ones we should go to first, which ones she thinks the stuff will be gone from fastest," Estes said.

They'll be hunting for the Guitar Hero bundle. Target's got it for $59.

For the first time, Sears downtown will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 7 a.m. to noon.

And another first - Target is helping customers find their deals faster.

"We have a map which will tell the guest the TVs are located in this area of the store," said Target store manager Mario Walker.

That map will be handed out as doors open Friday morning.

If you want to shop on Thanksgiving, other stores are open Thursday including Kmart and Meijer.

And if you hate crowds - you can buy many Black Friday sale items online by going to the store websites beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday morning.
