Stretch Your Dollar: Half Off Theater Tickets
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Chicago is a great theater town, but tickets get expensive. We found a way to see shows for half off, so you can stretch your dollar.
Cirque du Soleil, The Glass Menagerie and Plaza Suite - Meredith Blackburn has seen all of those shows and others since she signed up with Goldstar last April.
"I usually go anywhere from two to four times a month," Meredith said.
Goldstar.com is an Internet company that partners with many theaters to sell tickets for half off. The theaters get the cost of the ticket and Goldstar charges a service fee of $4.50.
"I've also bought tickets to ballet and to see some classical music," Meredith said.
And there's sports too. We found Bulls tickets for half off - priced from $23 to $35.
Meredith likes that it's easy.
'"I don't have to make phone calls or go anywhere to pick up tickets," she said. "I just get them at the show."
Goldstar does not partner with every theater, so you won't find everything that you might want to see, but there's a lot to choose from. Sometimes you have to move quickly because the tickets sell out.
