Finding The Hottest Cyber Monday Deals Online

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The holiday shopping season kicked off with a busy day at the stores. Now that people are back at work, many more are expected to buy online. And, as CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker reports, there are plenty of bargains.

With Black Friday behind us, retailers have turned their attention to Cyber Monday. Many of the online deals are only good for Monday, and end in just a few hours.

"There are more deals and there are bigger bargains for this Cyber Monday than we've seen before," said dealnews.com founder Dan de Grandpre.

If you just want to get an idea of all the offers out there, a good Web site to look at is one devoted to the day, cybermonday.com.

"You're going to see tons of web coupons. You'll see $5 off if you spend $50, some free shipping offers if you spend $100," de Grandpre said.

If you know what you're looking for, you might try a Web site like dealnews.com. They specialize in sites that offer the best deals. You can also try a comparison site like shopzilla.com. A search on cashmere gloves gets a long list of retailers.

"They'll tell you who sells it, how much they charge, they'll even account for shipping costs and you can sort by price to see who got the lowest price," de Grandpre said.

If you're looking for the best advice, experts say consider that because of the sluggish economy, Cyber Monday is just the beginning of great Web deals.

Here are five of the best deals we found:
You can get 40 percent off any DVD box set at borders.com Monday and Tuesday. All you have to do is enter the code ''cm2008'' at checkout. It's easy to remember, short for Cyber Monday 2008. Shipping is free on orders of $25 or more.

At ColeHaan.com everything except new arrivals is 30 percent off, plus free shipping. Just enter the code "holidaysale," all one word.

There are revolving deals at the photo Web site snapfish.com, beginning Monday. Photo collages, calendar posters, mouse pads and fleece blankets are all half off. Each item is personalized with your favorite photos. New deals will be posted every 48 hours.

And there are tons of deals on electronics out there. At dell.com, an Inspiron Mini 9 laptop costs $299, and shipping is free.

Sears.com is offering a 50-inch Samsung plasma TV for $899, a savings of $500 off the original price.
