State Officials: Check Store Records For Fraud

Hacker Broke Into Computer Systems At 4 Stores

Get breaking news alerts
CHICAGO (AP) ― State officials are warning consumers to double check financial records from four different stores after recent concerns of credit card fraud.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says anyone who shopped at T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Marshalls and A.J. Wright stores from 2003 to 2006 should be weary.

Madigan says a hacker or hackers entered the computer systems of those stores.

The unauthorized intruder had access to credit card, debit card, check and returned merchandise data.

Federal authorities -- including the U.S. Secret Service -- are investigating.

The four stores are operated by T.J.X. Companies Incorporated.

That company has set up a toll-free number for consumers to get more information regarding the breach, at 866-484-6978.
