Marijuana-Growing Operation Found In Winnetka Home

WILMETTE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A 21-year-old north suburban man was in jail Friday morning after police discovered a marijuana-growing operation in his home.

At about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Wilmette police executed a search warrant at a home at 384 Hawthorn Ln. in Winnetka. Inside, officers found marijuana growing stations, including tents equipped with lighting, irrigation and ventilation systems, according to a release from police.

Police recovered 75 cannabis plants and further evidence of the production, use and distribution of the drug, the release said.

Mark Elliot Mansheim of the Hawthorne Lane address was arrested and charged with felony counts of production of cannabis plants, possession of cannabis and manufacture of cannabis, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

He was being held in the Wilmette police lock-up pending a bond hearing Friday.
