Real Estate Company Hopes To Buy Wrigley Field

Report: Inland Real Estate Offered About $300 Million

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A local company haws reportedly made an offer to purchase Wrigley Field from the Tribune Company.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the Inland Real Estate Group hopes to buy the stadium, and has placed a bid for close to $300 million.

The Tribune Company put the stadium and the Cubs up for sale in conjunction with Sam Zell's buyout of the media conglomerate.

Neither Inland nor the Tribune Company have commented on the sale.

Previously, the State of Illinois tried to buy Wrigley Field, but Zell rejected the plan. Zell has said that he also plans to sell naming rights to Wrigley Field, but it has been unclear whether this would most likely mean an additional name for the ballpark, or the elimination of the Wrigley name altogether.
