Barnes & Noble To Shut Down All B. Dalton Stores
Only 2 B. Dalton Booksellers Remain In Chicago Area
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Barnes & Noble Inc. will be closing all of its B. Dalton Bookseller locations by the end of January.
Barnes & Noble confirmed to CBS 2 that the B. Dalton locations will be eliminated.
Only two B. Dalton stores remain in the Chicago area one in the Merchandise Mart just north of downtown, the other in the North Riverside Park Mall. But there are about 50 remaining stores across the nation.
Employees have been told Barnes & Noble will try to relocate them within the company.
At one time, B. Dalton Bookseller operated 25 Chicago area stores. The chain was owned by retail giant Dayton Hudson Corporation until Barnes & Noble bought it out in 1987.
