CBS 2 At Brookfield Zoo: Pygmy Hippo
by Susan Carlson
BROOKFIELD, Ill. (CBS) ―
Ever heard of a pygmy hippo? They may be small, but their mouths are really big!
CBS 2's Susan Carlson meets "Adelle" in this week's visit to the Brookfield Zoo.
Brookfield Zoo's Andre Coleman said trainers at the zoo give the pygmy hippos like Adelle regularly by training them to open wide when they are being fed. That way, trainers can get a good look at their big teeth.
Trainers also regularly brush the hippos to keep their skin in good condition and check their feet to make sure the hippos are healthy inside and out.
Adelle is a bit shy but you can come by and visit her at Brookfield Zoo.
