Derrick Blakley is a general assignment reporter for CBS 2 Chicago.

In June 2003, Blakley returned to CBS after 15 years at NBC 5 Chicago. Previously, he had worked for CBS News for seven years, based in Chicago, London and Bonn, Germany.

Blakley, a five-time Emmy Award winner, started at WMAQ-TV as a general assignment reporter. He later anchored the weekend morning newscasts and, finally, the weekend evening news.

Blakley got his start in television news as a reporter at WBNS-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Ohio. He began his journalism career as a news reporter at the Chicago Tribune.

Blakley, a Chicago native, graduated from Hales Franciscan High School, and now serves on the school's Board of Trustees. He holds a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Masters in Communications from the University of Illinois.
