Anne State is the 5:00 PM News anchor for CBS 2 Chicago. She also reports for the 10 PM newscast. State joined CBS 2 from NBC 7/39 in San Diego where she had worked as an anchor and reporter since 2002.

Since moving to Chicago, State has written and reported several important features for the 10:00 PM News. "The Face of Foreclosure," was a report that offered viewers specific tips to help avoid foreclosures and save their homes. State's story about a downtown "fish hotel" designed to encourage marine life in the Chicago River aired during the summer. She is currently working on a series of local environmental stories focusing on people who make Chicago a greener place to live.

While in San Diego, State covered numerous breaking news events including the Southern California wildfires. She also broke several stories, including a report about a trial witness who was murdered immediately before she was set to testify. State has also reported extensively on military affairs and cross border issues.

Prior to working in San Diego, State was the weekend morning anchor and reporter at KMOV-TV in St. Louis (2000-2002). Before that, she was the morning anchor and general assignment reporter at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa (1998-2000). She began her career as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KTKA-TV in Topeka, Kan.

State has been honored with three Emmy Awards, a Missouri Broadcasters Association Award and an Iowa Broadcast News Association Award.

State earned her M.S. in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her B.A. from the University of California at San Diego. She has dual Irish and American citizenship and has spent time living and working in London, England and Sydney, Australia.
