Anne State is the 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM News anchor for CBS 2 Chicago.
State joined CBS 2 from NBC 7/39 in San Diego where she had worked as
an anchor and reporter since 2002.
Most recently, State worked
for KNSD-TV, an NBC O&O. In addition to reporting, she anchored the
10:00 PM newscast which airs on KSWB-TV, the CW station in San Diego,
and is produced by KNSD-TV.
State has covered numerous
breaking news events including the Southern California wildfires. She
broke important stories for the San Diego stations including a report
about a trial witness who was murdered immediately before she was set
to testify. She has also reported extensively on military affairs and
cross border issues.
Prior to working in San Diego, State was
the weekend morning anchor and reporter at KMOV-TV in St. Louis
(2000-2002). Before that, she was the morning anchor and general
assignment reporter at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa (1998-2000). She
began her career as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KTKA-TV in Topeka,
Kan.
State has been honored with two Emmy Awards, a Missouri
Broadcasters Association Award and an Iowa Broadcast News Association
Award.
State earned her M.S. in broadcast journalism from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her B.A. from the
University of California at San Diego. She has dual Irish and American
citizenship and has spent time living and working in
London, England and Sydney, Australia.
