John Drummond
John Drummond is a contributing reporter for CBS 2 Chicago,
specializing in news about organized crime. Previously he covered stories
pertaining to unsolved mysteries, politics, and sports.
Drummond, a heralded journalist who has garnered several
Emmys throughout his career, is one of Chicago's
most accomplished reporters. He has not only been inducted into the Chicago
Journalism Hall of Fame, but he has also received a Lifetime Achievement Award
from the Chicago Headline Club and has been honored by the Chicago Chapter of
the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Before joining CBS 2 in 1969, Drummond was a news anchor and
field reporter for WIND in Chicago.
Prior to that, he served as a legislative correspondent for WHO-TV in
Des Moines, and covered sports and news for WREX-TV in Rockford,
Illinois.
Drummond is a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
He graduated from the University
of Minnesota, where he
earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Political Science. Drummond also
completed graduate work at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Drummond spent four years in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean War. For three of those four years he was stationed as an instructor at
Air Force Basic Training Centers.
In addition to being a reporter in real life, Drummond has
moonlighted as a reporter in several motion pictures including the critically
acclaimed, "The Fugitive," starring Harrison Ford.
Drummond has authored two books: "Thirty Years in the
Trenches" (1998), and the soon-to-be-released "It Ain't Pretty, but it's Real."
Drummond, who currently lives in one of Chicago's suburbs, is married with three
children, all of whom are adults.
